Facts About Chesterfield Furniture
Leave a CommentAntique Furniture, Leather Sofas
It is not know for sure how the word to describe a leather sofa with buttoning to the back with arms and back of the same height, came into being, nor can we say for certain. Some have suggested that it was the fourth earl of Chesterfield – Phillip Stanhope (1694-1773) who commissioned a piece of Fine Furniture, afterwards known as a Chesterfield sofa. Others suggest it originated in Canada and parts of America to describe a sofa.
