The Darwin club chair is a classic which would look at home in most household situations and more and more commercial enterprises such as hotels and offices are putting them into their premises. We are familiar with club chairs seen in television period plays and it is synonymous with historic gentleman’s clubs and of course the British embassies abroad.

Similar to our Suffolk Club Chair, the Darwin Club Chair is a true classic buttoned tub chair sporting a hardwood frame with exposed, polished legs, and a fully buttoned interior and seat. The Cumberland club chair is amongst the most distinctive within our range of club chairs and sofas and its design can be seen in some of the world’s finest sitting rooms and government residences. This club chair is the Rolls Royce of club chairs and we are rightly proud of it. Based on our Warwick club chair, the Cumberland has our trademark teardrop arm, with fully buttoned interior. It features solid brass and mahogany castors and a generously sprung base, with all cappings individually nailed with copper studs.

There can be no doubt that the Buckingham club chair is ‘distinctive’ the most notable feature has to be its proud crested back. It is not know for sure how the word to describe a leather sofa with buttoning to the back with arms and back of the same height, came into being, nor can we say for certain. Others suggest it originated in Canada and parts of America to describe a sofa.

The leather is then blacked with a special treatment which makes the whole of the hide appear very dark, in fact almost black; the frame is also treated in this way. When our craftsman is completely satisfied, special treatment follows and the appearance is lightened to give it a genuine antique look. The whole process is completed by sealing it to ensure that the effect is not lost in time. Your new “antique” distinctive chesterfield will blend into its new surroundings comfortably.
