We are not sure whether our Livingston Club Chair was named specifically after the famous Scottish medical missionary, that first set eyes in November 1855 upon the famous falls in Africa, which he named after the then Queen, Victoria. The Raleigh Dining Chair collection is available as a side chair or you could decide upon adding a carver to your set. Naturally, the Raleigh is handmade in our workshops by time served craftsmen using only chosen hardwoods and the full range of leather used in our sofa and club chairs. The dining chairs are straight backed and feature fully buttoned backs with all the range of colours and styles of leather which could be matching or contrasting to other products such as a club chair in your dining room.

At our Distinctive Chesterfields showroom we welcome visitors where some of the wonderful range of genuine hand made leather sofas and chairs is on show and if required, high resolution photographs of all the product range can also be provided upon request.

We place a great deal of emphasis on the way that we, at Distinctive Chesterfields, use traditional methods and materials throughout the whole process of making a Chesterfield Sofa or Club Chair which requires a great deal of skill, in many areas. Starting with the all important frame, which is hand made by time-served frame makers using high grade materials, through to the leather finish which is from specially selected hides. This is finished and cut by trained leatherworkers, who have a keen eye for only the best quality leathers, all in our traditional workshops. If the Sofa or Chair is upholstered, this is undertaken by apprentice trained upholsterers, all masters in their field.

We never cut corners at Distinctive Chesterfields, and you can be certain that you will never find PU panels, the best leather only, never rig or regenerated, split or demic leather, supplied in three finishes and 34 different colours. Any Sofa can be made to your individual requirements higher, longer, deeper, firmer or softer, we will be happy to accommodate you.

Seen in some of the world’s finest sitting rooms and government residences, the combination of a Cumberland Chesterfield Sofa and matching Club Chair has to be the Rolls Royce of the leather sofa and chair world.

We manufacture the Cumberland with a hand sprung frame including fully sprung arms and back. Solid brass castors as standard and the full range of leathers in finished colours to your personal choice from the swatches that will be sent to you on request. The standard sofa is a four seater version although it is possible to increase the overall length of this, we have made them 5.5 metres or a massive sixteen and three quarter feet! For smaller homes or rooms the Distinctive Chesterfield, although desirable may not be suitable due to other pieces of furniture in the room. In these cases it is still possible to enhance your room with a Buttoned Wing, or a Chesterfield Club Chair.

Naturally the Darwin is made in the same careful hand made way by time served craftsmen in our own workshops, all under one roof; nothing is outsourced or bought in. Your Darwin tub chair, sporting a hardwood frame with exposed, polished legs, and a fully buttoned interior and seat can be yours for delivery in the UK in around four weeks, our international orders take slightly longer.

With an elegantly sloped arm line, which naturally blends seamlessly with the crested back, the Stafford Chesterfield Sofa is an elegant piece which will complement any room and add a touch of class naturally, blending into modern or traditional surroundings without effort.

The very individual look of the Stafford Chesterfield is achieved through the classic back line and elegant deep rolled pleats finishing the top of this shallow sprung back. For ease of movement the Stafford Chesterfield is fitted with brass castors and hand finished in every department including the brass studs which add to the classic look of this modern sofa.

Our Chesterfields and Club Chairs all start with the frame which is the heart of a distinctive Chesterfield and although most of this is not seen, the same care is employed here as with say, the hand finished leathers. This important part of the sofa or chair is constructed using only the finest hardwoods, selected for strength and longevity, hand formed by time served craftsmen. All the component parts are assembled, again by hand using screws and dowels with corner blocks to provide added strength to the frame. Naturally every Chesterfield or Club Chair is stringently checked for shape and to ensure that it is absolutely square.

When the frame is complete we can now see the shape and size of the Chesterfield or Club Chair and this is then passed through to our skilled polisher to add finish to those parts of the frame that will be exposed, legs and feet for example. Several coats of polish are applied by hand in a traditional manner and this is allowed to harden in a temperature controlled environment for at least 48 hours. When our quality controller is fully satisfied with the frame, only then can it proceed to the next stages of careful manufacture.

The Scott club chair is one of many from which you could choose, this example has the usual hardwood frame, fully buttoned back which with three choices of leathers and many colour finishes, just shouts style.
